  1. http://www.astronomy.com

  2. There's a pile of them. Start at Mead's site and down load their Auto Star suite. That will give you a good planetarium program for FREE.  Then for beginners try seeintospace. He has little webinars and good information on what's going on NOW. Cloudynights.com has a good forum.  Google up Astronomy clubs in your area. This is a great way to get into Astronomy.  At a star party you will even get a chance to look through some really nice scopes.  Astronomy.com has a good site, but you need to subscribe to get to all of it. It is a good magazine, and will keep you up to date on the newest discoveries and help explain a lot of things you didn't even think of when you get started in Astronomy.  Sky and Telescope has a site and a good magazine too.

  3. These are good - Sky and Tel has monthly maps of what's available, and spaceweather has updates for aurora and planets and comets.
