  1. i dont know much about tires but i use goodyear too and they are awesome.

as far as changing manufacturers...no one would get it right all the time..and then waht ??

i think teams should be able to choose there tires..especially know with the cot...

give them a choice..why not???best man shoud win..theres too much restrictions now....they need to throw creativity into the mix

  2. Those tires just had a bad race that day and even Tony Stewart cooled off later in the week and apologized about his comments. Drivers like Jeff Gordon and Ryan Newman said that they didn't agree with the tire issue but respected Tony's opinion. I respect Tony's decision too because he is one of my favorite drivers although I agree with the majority so I would disagree with Tony this time.

  3. Goodyear puts the minimum amount of effort into their racing program. There are darn few racing series that even use Goodyear tires. The ones that do use only Goodyears, so there's no direct competition. The amount of races ruined by having a lousy tire supplied by Goodyear is way too high.

  4. Doesn't Tony Stewart know that the past what, 30 NASCAR Champions had Goodyears tires?

    Sheesh!

  5. Prior to the "modern" era in Nascar(PRE 1970'S) the drivers/teams had their choice of tire from Goodyear,Firestone,Hoosier.

Goodyear could beat the price on the others by volume they could supply.this was attractive to the various teams and owners so they could save money,so NASCAR decided Goodyear to be the official tire.

Over the years attempts have been made to get other tires back into cup,and they were successful in the 90's.In 1994 the tire wars were such that the teams could choose between Goodyear and Hoosier. Both had fast compounds and both had the volume needed for speedweeks, but there were several tire failures during speedweeks, the worst was when Neil Bonnett was killed,he was on Hoosier tires and the tires failed at 200 MPH.Hoosier pulled all their tires and left the  track.

If any other tire manufacturer has a tire that can compete with Goodyear and NASCAR approves it the theey are welcomed to bring them. But other that inquiries from Hoosier and Firestone nothing has been done other than NASCAR has ok'd the use of Hoosier tires for testing at tracks where Cup and Nationwide do not run.

It would be good to see some competition between the tire  companies.

  6. I use Mickey Thompson for racing and Michelin for passenger. You never hear Kyle Busch blaming Goodyear for him losing a race. That kinda tells a story, don't it?

  7. Goodyear has more bad races than good and have since the early 90s.they had good tires when they had to compete with Firestone and Hoosier but haven't been worth a c**p since nascar was bought off by them!!with no comp. they can bring whatever is the cheapest and has the best profit margin,d**n the comp.personally i wont buy Goodyear.
