Goodbye Fairuz Fauzy – Team Lotus

After a disastrous debut season in the sport, Team Lotus has been involved in a lot of controversies and drama and it seems that the team just doesn’t want the media to run away from them any time soon.
After a lot of conflicts with Group Lotus, Team Lotus and Group Lotus decided to part ways and as a result, both of the companies are now fighting over the naming rights as both of them want to use the Lotus with their teams.
Group Lotus bought 25% of RenaultF1 team’s shares and now the team is known as Lotus Renault GP officially. However, it seems that this battle has just begun and is going to keep going on until both of them come to peace with each other and negotiate this
matter peacefully.
Meanwhile, Team Lotus has announced that they will keep both of their 2010 drivers for the 2011 Formula 1 season and this means that Heikki Kovalainen and Jarno Trulli will drive for the team once again. On the other hand, Renault has confirmed Robert Kubica
but they have not given a final verdict about Vitaly Petrov’s seat yet.
Team Lotus recently revealed that they have released their reserve driver Fairuz Fauzy of his obligations to the team. He tested for the team at the Malaysian, British, German, Singapore and Abu Dhabi Grand Prix’s Friday practice sessions.
“Just last week, Lotus Racing prematurely released Fairuz from what was supposed to be a five-year contract, a move some may see as a detriment to the team after the insight, experience and exposure Fairuz has gained over the last 12 months with Lotus Racing,”
read a statement from Fauzy's management.
It seems that the young rookie is hoping to look for a full season seat in the team, as it is every driver’s dream.
“In view of such developments as well, Fairuz has decided to contemplate other options and offers he has been receiving as of late from other Formula 1 teams, which also affords him the opportunity and flexibility to compete in other racing series at the
same time,” according to the statement.
It would be interesting to see what Fairuz decides after this release.
“We are now looking at all avenues to fit him as a full time race driver in an international racing series of the same stature, but of course formula one is our main priority,” according to Fauzy’s management.
On the other hand, Lotus is currently in quite a dilemma and the war between Group Lotus and Team Lotus is getting spicier day after day.
