Goofball Dad Moments? ?

I'm sure I'm not the only one with a husband who has some "goofball" or "blond moments" when it comes to taking care of our kids or doing something for them on his own. While no body is perfect and we all make mistakes, sometimes I wonder what goes through his mind when he does/says these things lol.

Care to share any moments that happened in your household?

Here's mine: When we had twins back in April, my husband went home to take care of our 2yr son for a few days on his own. Before we had left for the hospital, I had left a list of what to do and even PICTURES of things for my husband so he wouldn't have any trouble taking care of everything concerning the little guy. When I came home a few days later, I was EXTREMELY happy to see thatthe house wasn't a mess and that my husband had delt with everything with no problems. Then I made it upstairs to my son's room and saw that the front side of the crib was duct taped up! I asked my husband what had happened and he replied with, "I uh... couldn't figure out how to keep it up...so I uh...taped it."

  1. Well, I am pregnant and my boyfriend is a soon to be daddy so he has not done anything goofy with our kid yet but he has with his little sister. I actually have a few stories!!!

So, when his little sister was about 6 months old my boyfriend was carrying her on some wet mossy steps, he slipped and started to fall down the steps. As a reaction to falling he threw his arms in the air and then launched his little sister in the air. She just so happened to land perfectly at the top of the steps and had very minor bruises. He addmitted to me that he did not mean to throw her and he was very lucky she landed so perfectly!!! It could have been very bad and she could have been throw over the railing 15 feet to the ground or thrown on the steps where she could have rolled down!!! The last thing I would do if I were falling is throw my baby in the air!!! He could have killed her!!!

Another thing that happened with his little sister is he was pushing her in the stroller and he did not buckle her in. He had to stop really fast at a curb to avoid a biker flying by and then his little sister fell out of the stroller but she really kind of rolled out. She rolled out on to her head and arms where for a split second it looked like she was doing a hand stand and then directly on to her butt. She was 3 at the time and again was not injured due to being lucky to fall just perfectly!!! I always reminded him to buckle her in but he often forgot, he never forgot after that incident!!!

He did things like that with her ALL the time. There was one time he was pushing her in a swing and pusher her too hard and pushed her out of the swing!!! He is really not careful at all. It worries me to death which is why I am probably never going to leave him alone with the baby till he is at least a year old or proves to me he can be careful.

He is so not even careful that he will accidentally elbow me or slap me or knock me because he thinks he can just flail his body and limbs about when there is someone standing or sitting 2 feet from him.

He is like a toddler himslef or a old man. He has left the GAS stove on when he left the house for several hours, he will put something in the oven and forget it till he smells something burning 2 hours later, he has almosy caught the house on fire, he puts icecream in the fridge....

Okay I really better stop because now I am just pissing myself off thinking about what an idiot he can be!!!! Men, ugg!!!!

  2. That's so funny! I just posted a question on here a few days ago about "firing the babysitter if the baby was left in a poopy diaper for 2 hours - and what if that babysitter was the DAD!"

Yes - it happened.  We have 2 kids, one's 7, the baby's a year.  I went to a party.  It was the FIRST time I'd been out by myself since I had the baby - and got a call 2 hrs later.

"He's not stopped crying, and nothing I'm doing is working - he doesn't want to eat or drink anything, he just keeps screaming"

    (me)"I'm coming home now, then..."

I get home, the baby has all but pooped out of his diaper (teething), it's crusted on his bum, beet red spots all over his male anatomy.  I was just so angry!

It must've been a blonde moment for my hubby - how could he not SMELL that!?!?

  3. Haha. My ex husband had a blond moment too when I had our send. Our oldest had just turned 5yrs and my ex husband went home to take care of her for the night and get her ready for school the next day. I had everything set up like you did: A list of everything to do, clothes out on the floor, lunch made etc.

The following afternoon, the two of them came into my room and my mouth dropped at the sight of my daughter. She had 8! EIGHT! ponytails in her hair and was wearing clothes that were 2 sizes too big! I just starred at my ex husband. He apparently didn't read the 5 step list I had and didn't put her into the clothes I had left out. My daughter then said, "Mommy...everyone starred at me today at school and Mrs. Rose knew you had the baby today! Did you tell her?" ...No...she just knew a mother wouldn't send her kid to school like that lol.

  4. My husband swore up and down that our son's birthday was March 21 instead of March 12.

A girlfriend of mine had called up a few days before my son's 4th birthday in 2007, wanting to know if they could stop by the day before his birthday, which was a Sunday, and surprise him. My husband kept saying, "But that would be a Tuesday. Tuesday the 20 is his birthday." She told him he was wrong but he INSISTED it was the 21. "I was there! I know my own kid's birthday!" He finally called me and was extremely upset when he realized he was wrong. lol
