Question:

Google Earth Phenomenon?

On Google Earth, my friend and I looked up Area 51. We found a road from about the NW corner of the site, and followed it to 37"10'33.21º N and 116"02'45.30º W [approximately]. There's a large, unidentifiable indentation thing that looks like a crater. There's a PERFECTLY circular road around it. It's so huge in contrast to towns around it, and what's more, there are other craters south of it. If you could please tell me WHAT these things are, WHAT the ROAD is, and HOW they got there or any information on them, please give me as much detail as possible!! Thanks.

[Here's a picture of it and the road encircling it. Thanks]

  1. It's just another wonder!

  2. I suspect that you are looking at craters from nuclear tests at the Nevada Test site.

    check out this photo: http://www.britannica.com/EBchecked/topi...

  3. Activate the Google Earth Community option in the "gallery" feature of Google Earth, this will put a small blue "i" in most of those features, linking the object to captions and links established by Googlers.

In the case of those craters, they are the result of underground nuclear tests.
