Question:

Google Hijacking problem!! Help!!?

So it's been almost a week... Everytime I click on a search result on Google, it redirects me to an advertisement. The other day, the status bar was analitic-checks.google.com, but it hasn't done that in the past few days anymore. I ran Ad-Aware, but it hasn't taken care of the problem. I also ran AVG 8.0 but it has trouble updating, it updated today but didn't find the problem either. Both Ad-Aware and AVG have just been taking care of tracking cookies, but not removing the hijacker. Everytime I try to go to a site to download an anti-virus/anti-spyware, etc., program, I get a "Page Error" on the page. Mozilla Firefox has the same problem, so I doubt it's just affecting IE. I've done restart and all that stuff but it hasn't worked. Because I can't go to any of the anti-virus/anti-spyware download sites like Lavasoft and Grisoft, I can't fix this problem. I tried to go around it by going to Cnet.com and finding anti-virus/anti-spyware programs, but when I clicked on the download button, it wouldn't download. It's not just affecting those downloads, other things like iTunes that I try to download, won't work. My computer is running slow overall and I'm pretty sure it's cause of this hijacker/spyware/virus, whatever it is. It's very frustrating, please help!!

  1. Don't worry, you're not alone. I'm dealing with it right now and it sucks because I'm traveling and all I have is my laptop (infected). I found the first step to help is to go to

    http://majorgeeks.com/Dr.Web_CureIT_d478...

The link provided (up top: says "author's site") will download an updated program that will begin to find some of your problems.

If it doesn't download, d/l it on an unaffected computer, compress with (winrar trial version may work, but you should buy the program too ; )), them email it to yourself. You may need to d/l it a few times, renaming it or something (atleast thats what I did) but you should be able to get it to work.

Let it do an express scan, then do a complete scan. Restart in safe-mode (tap f8 continuously during startup to get to safe-mode select screen). Run CureIt again. Then restart. You should be able to update your antivirus by then and delete alot of the other c**p linked to it. Make sure your run updated spybot, antivirus, windows defender, and ad-aware(if you can get it to work.

I am still stuck on the analitic-checks.google.com part but I'm hopeful someone will fix it. Google should be on it because I know they didn't start it but it is using it's name. I think this is going to be a wide-spread virus and a lot of people don't realize they have it yet because most major Anti-Virus programs don't detect it yet, even with updates, but it's big.

Note to Readers: We are not misspelling

    "analitic-checks.google.com"

This is the actual VIRUS and it is not the same thing as "google analytics" which is harmless. Experts and Gurus: Do not pass this off as some newbs who can't type, there is a real nasty virus affecting lots of computers. PLEASE HELP!
