Google searches saved, how to turn off?

The google search bar saves my searches and shows them when I type in a search. How can I turn this function off? I know how to delete them, but don't want to have to do that every week or whatever. Can I just turn the function off so it doesn't display my old searches?

if you're using IE 7 .. go to Tools-> Internet Options - > Content -> AutoComplete and uncheck every box..
