My friends goose can't walk and it is breathing shorter. What can cause this? Is it curable? We don't think it will last through the night. Is it normal? We aren't sure what to do. Every time it tries to walk it falls over onto its back. It also had pigeons feet and they didn't notice it until a couple days ago. Help please :(

  1. Was this goose a domesticated goose (the same type used for food)?  The problems that this goose is having sound extremely similar to the breathing, walking, and body weight problems found in factory farmed chickens and turkeys.  They were selectively bred to grow so large, that their skeletons and organ systems cannot sustain their bulk.  Respiratory problems arise from being so large that their lungs don't have enough room to expand.  Difficulty walking is due to the dramatic growth of the birds, which occurs so quickly, that their legs cannot support them.  Leg deformities are common.  Organ failure is also due to their unnatural size.  This goose may be doomed to live a short and painful life.
