Gordon Beckham believes custom-fitted protective equipment will suit Paul Konerko – MLB News
The Chicago White Sox infielder Gordon Beckham is giving his team-mate Paul Konerko slight hope on his sore knee and suggesting that custom fitted protective equipment will be a very good solution for him to play in the coming Major League season.
Konerko, who was injured in a game against the Texas Rangers, is trying his best to recover from the knee soreness. With his team in Arizona, recently Konerko came out on the field wearing custom made protective equipment in order to lessen the damage.
Lately Konerko’s team-mate, Beckham spoke to the media and appreciated the way White Sox physicians took care of him in the early hours and the equipment he is wearing is certainly will help him to get back soon.
Gordon said, "Paul is all about fit and is so (thorough) about it, It has to be perfect. It's a custom moulding thing that's really comfortable. The technology disperses energy better than anything else out there, that's why I think he's going to like it, especially once he gets one hit off his ankle or wherever it is.”
At the moment, the White Sox are preparing for the next season and practicing hard in Spring Training, but if Konerko’s injury prolonged and the soreness on his knee remained as it is, this will create many difficulties for the franchise in the long run.
The team doctors, officials, coaches and some top executives of White Sox are also worried over this late injury of Konerko. Playing in the White Sox franchise since 1999, Konerko is considered one of the best players and ranked amongst the top individuals in the Major League.
White Sox manager Robin Ventura is also worried as he also recently said in the media for Konerko and his late injury, “I don’t know if you can bring gear up to your thigh, He hit himself in the knee. He should be OK to go home. He’s not playing tonight. It matters. We tried to set up Lewis, just for opening day, make him comfortable.”
Konerko’s early comeback is very important for the team. He is also considered a role player in the franchise and if he remained isolated from the game because of his injury, the next season will be a difficult competition for the White Sox.
