The PFA’s Chief Executive Gordon Taylor strongly believes that Manchester United’s http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Patrice-Evra-c29231 and Liverpool’s Luis Suarez, should shake hands when they face each other on Saturday.
Suarez returned from an eight game suspension on Monday, following a ban that he picked up after he racially abused Evra during a Premier League game earlier this season.
Despite this fact, Taylor believes the two players shouldn’t let anything come between them and that they should try and move on.
As a result, Taylor has suggested that the two go ahead and shake hands with each other, as they would with the rest of the team.
When talking about the upcoming confrontation between the two players, Taylor is quoted to have said: "I would hope that would take place, that would be a sign that having gone through the situation that those two players would shake hands and we can move
on.”
"If they can accept that having paid that penalty, like Suarez has, that you learn from it and move on.”
"That's the only chance we've got, if we can do that.”
"If you keep things festering it will only exacerbate how the problem was initially, and in that way we will be losing the battle."
Despite some people feeling that Taylor’s words are a little confusing, it is easy to see just where he is coming from.
Taylor simply wants the two players to move on and not linger over the past forever. At the same time, should the two manage to shake hands, it would be a massive boost to the anti-racism philosophy that the FA has been trying to incorporate.
Not only would a handshake between the two show that even players can move on and not be racist, but it would also stop any and all fans from chanting in a racist manner during the game.
It is still unclear whether the two would end up shaking each other’s hands or not, but what can be said assuredly, is that there is going to be some sort of drama on the pitch this coming Saturday when Suarez and Evra face off against each other.
