Gospel Choir confident to win Betfred Melrose Stakes (Handicap)
Ahead of the Betfred Melrose Stakes (Handicap), the Sir Michael Stoute trained chestnut colt, Gospel Choir, is cherishing two objectives. He wants to supplement his confidence along with extending his excellent success streak of three victories. Thus, it
is expected that the three-year-old novice runner will demonstrate a convincing performances at York racecourse to bring home the prize money worth £43,575.
The class 2 contest over 1 mile and 6 furlongs is scheduled to start at 2:30 (GMT) on Saturday, August 25. There seem 18 entries on the race card. The ground is good and this is an ideal situation for Gospel Choir to unleash his utmost racing stamina.
The talented son of Galileo out of Chorist started his career on August 12, 2011, finishing 3rd in the Sunspot Amusements, Southend EBF Maiden Stakes that took place at Newmarket. It was the good course.
After the maiden start, he took a long rest to improvise his abilities. This proved to be greatly helpful as the brilliant colt marvellously broke his maiden by winning the Goldring Security Services Maiden Stakes (Div II) at Salisbury on July 1, 2012. He
was the 4-7 favourite for that race.
During the same month, the Cheveley Park Stud owned colt also won the Canisbay Bloodstock Handicap at Ascot by beating the best-priced candidate Sun Central. That was an impressive performance indeed.
Gospel Choir moved ahead to complete his hat-trick with the addition of the title of the Nationwidevehiclecontracts.co.uk Levy Board Handicap that was held at Haydock on August 11.
In the light of this tremendous track record, it is quite natural to believe that the enthusiastic sprinter will be able to thrive emphatically in today’s marathon, but some of his opponents like Sir Graham Wade and Courtesy Call look to be strong enough
to give him tough time.
Sir Graham Wade too has three consecutive conquests to his name. The Mark Johnston trained grey colt debuted in September 2011. After breaking his maiden in April 2012, he bagged two back-to-back victories in the calendar month.
Thus, a rip-roaring clash is expected at York. Let us see how Gospel Choir manages to justify his talent. Good luck to him.
