I have a 2000 GMC Jimmy and my stock speakers were blown out so I went and bought four new ones. All I did was pull out the old speakers and connected the four new ones when I connected all four speakers I can’t get any sound out of the stock radio but, when I unplug the back two the front two will work just fine. Why can’t I get all four to work with my stock radio?

  1. your stero doesn't put out enough wattage for the speakers you need to buy either an amp or a new deck or paossibly both.  check the power rating on the speakers for sure and make sure they are less than what the deck puts out as RMS.  if so then this answer is totally wrong and i'm sorry for wasting your time.  but if the power for all four speakers is more than the RMS for the deck that is the problem.  you can find how much wattage your deck puts out by either going to an audio shop or possibly a GM fourm online hope this helps

  2. Hay look and see if you have a fade button on your stock radio. That allowes you to change from front to back speakers.

  3. "...when I unplug the back two the front two will work just fine."

that means one of the back speakers is causing a short.  when there is a short at one speaker, all the speakers stop working because the short in a way goes back to the radio.  check your connections on the back speakers, making sure no positive is touching ground.  this may have been the cause of your stock speakers not working.  they may still work, just there was a wiring issue.
