My mothers pet rat saw my pet rat, went running after mine, so I picked him up to stop him, and he attackedd my hand. I have an inch deep gash in my hand, along with about 20 scratches. Was it normal for him to act that way? he's never hurt anyone before. and is very sweet. and also, now I'm kind of scared of him, so you think I have a right to be scared of him? or do you think I should just let it go?

By the way, NO rude comments. I love these rats, no matter what. they've never hurt anyone before, are very sweet, so no rude comments, please. Or I will report it.

  1. okay so a he right well two guys the older guy will try to fight not like females so when he attacked your hand he never ment to he thought you were the other rat same thing happened to me, and he's still very sweet don't blame your rat.

  2. If your moms rat lives alone then yes it is normal for him to do that. I do not think you should be afraid of him. You should just work with him to overcome your fears. I am sure he will not attack you again. But i have a rat and he does not like my best friend. I have no idea why but sometimes even the sweetest rats just dislike certain people.

  3. Hey! As I can tell, you only want the best for your rat. You should always socialize it with different animals. But keep it in your hand tight. If it tries to get out, put it back in it's cage.

  4. i dont mean to be rude. i think that you can bring it to petco or wherever she got it, and then ask the rat person there. BTW, i thnk that the rat (your mothrs) waz jus playin games, and i think that it could have been hungry, so it really was chasin yours. You did the rite thing though, just next time, pick up YOUR rat lol. you did the rite thing though. But itz either that it was serious, or they were just playin. I discovered that wen any animal is playin, they are serious about it, so i suggest that you dont make any guesses. Also, rats and mice are known to be territorial, so thats another option. Once again, no guesses! respectively

  5. I'm sure that your mum's rat was not vicious, maybe territorial toward your rat, but no worries. You shouoldn't be afraid of him, but be very wary if your rat is around as this apparently causes him to be on edge and act aggressively. It can be hard to trust the animal that hurt you, but can be done if you try.

You definitely want to keep that wound as clean as possible. My friend once got bitten by her rat when it had a seizure. The rat was fine, but the girl had to go th the ER for the infection a few days of poor cleaning later.

  6. r they both males?

males are usually aggressive to eachother.

  7. He obviously wasn't against you or mad at you or anything when he attacked because rats are known never to bite unless they are under stress or are scared... did he experience a stressful or frightening moment? if so, he reacted by biting your hand!  you shouldn't be scared of him he wont do it again because rat's rarely bite!

  8. Noo he was probably protecting himself. :D

  9. Hello,

I dont think he mant to hurt you, i think he was just trying to get 2 ur rat...

But 2 be on the safe side, i would totaly get the deep gash checked out, so infection dosent spread...

    Also, Rats r 2 cuute =]

Hope this helps and good luck,

    Love from,

    Rach x
