I received a letter yesterday for an initial I-485 interview. Im still waiting on my EAD to be issued. It's been 83 days now. Im wondering if this is normal?? I really need the EAD soon as i have a job waiting. I don't understand why i got this letter before my EAD and is there anyway to speed up my EAD process?? Any thoughts or suggestions would be appreciated.

Thanks

  1. CONGRATULATIONS! Seems like you will be getting your green card before your EAD. Usually if there isn't a long waiting period they will just advance to your permanent residence application. If your application is approved the day of your interview you should recieve your green card in the mail in about two weeks. Then you can begin to work.

  2. You should be happy not upset about getting your appointment for your permanent residence card first.  It usually takes about 3 months to get your EAD card anyways so you are not late. Hopefully you can get your permanent residence card first.  GOOD LUCK!
