I dont think the motor is oil injected so i was told you have to do the oil gas mixture. its 50 to 1. can somebody explain it to me as basic as possible? thank you.

  1. Two-cycle oil is sold in containers for 5 gallons of gas. Put in some gas, and pour in the contents, and add the rest of the gas.  Put the top back on the container and hook up your feed line. Repeat if you have more than one tank. If you have a large built-in tank, add the gas, but leave space to add the oil. Compute the oil requirements from the added gas, at 50:1 ratio of gas to oil. Most containers have a chart for this on them.

    Dan

  2. Yes, if it's a two-stroke motor without an oil metering system.  If your seller told you to use premixed oil & gas, then that's what you've got.

You need "TCW3 certified oil".  And 87 octane gasoline.  Higher octane just gives you a less complete burn.

If you're trailering your boat, just put the oil in the tank after you fill up.  By the time you get to the lake it'll be plenty mixed.  Don't buy marina gas if you can help it - too likely to have water in it.

At first it might seem complicated, but you can simplify it a bit.

50:1 is the correct ratio.  Everybody comes up with their own routine - what I do is, add 1/3 cup of oil for every gallon of gas I add, every time I fill up.

1/3 cup per gallon is 1 pint every six gallons.

That's a 48:1 mixture, which gives you enough margin that you can round to the nearest gallon of gas without worry.

Only, *DON'T FORGET* the oil.  It's just as important as the drain plug.

If you suddenly remember you forgot to oil your gas, shut 'er down, don't try to make it back to the ramp.

  3. run it 50 to 1 thats 15.36 oz to 6 gallons of gas   but you can use 16oz of oil thats what everybody uses  gas containers useally come in 6 gallons  get a measuring cup to measure

  4. There are 128 ounces in one gallon.  So 128 divided by 50 equals 2.56 ounces per gallon.  Watch the exhaust.  It should be lightly smoky.  Too much smoke, use less oil.  No smoke, add oil.  A 40 to 1 mixture uses 3.2 ounces per gallon.

  5. You add the oil to the gas in the correct ratio of 50-1.

The absolute best way to do this is buy a measuring bottle from Wall-mart- it will have lines that you fill the oil to so it will be correct- for instance, if you put 6 gallons of gas in your tank, you fill the bottle with oil to the 6 gallon mark and then put it in your tank- if you put 10 gallons or 3 gallons you just fill the bottle to the correct line for the amount of gas that you bought and add the oil to your tank- it is precise and there is no guessing involved- the measuring bottle only cost about 2 bucks. You need to get one!

  6. Do you have a six gallon tank? Yes, mix one pint of oil to those six gallons of gas.

If your tank is built-in mix 2.5 ounces of oil for every gallon of gas. I have a cheat sheet, built in Excel with all the ratios, that I laminate and give to all my O/B clients to keep in their glove box.
