I have several old movies on VHS, it is not worth it for me to re-buy them on DVD but I still want them in my collection, every time I try to record to DVD I get a message that copywrited material cannot be recorded and the unit stops recording. Anyone know how I can get around this obviously too smart for it's own good DVD recorder. I only want to do this for my benifit and keep these movies in my collection without having to buy new ones. I have also called Panasonic and they had no answers.

  1. They are copywrite protected so you are screwed, sorry.  Just subscribe to HBO or Showtime and record them when they come on using your DVD recorder.

Hey, one thought is to play the VCR and run cables from the tv-out to the DVD recorder and see what happens!

  2. Hi GirlGone,

You can legally back up your tapes for your own use.

To do that you have to bypass the copy guard. You will have to get a device like "Sima T120 GoDVD". It removes the copy guard and enhances the picture. You plug your source into it and plug it into the input of your recorder.

Here is an example of one - http://www.heartlandamerica.com/browse/i...

Another one that will work is the Digital Video Stabilizer.  It is only $25 and they work like a charm. Go here to read about and see an example - http://www.qualitekindustries.com/vidsta...
