  1. Might I suggest you try the polls and surveys section and leave this one to martial arts ??

  2. No I don't consider a males answer  to be more credible. I take each answer on its merits regardless if I know the gender or age of the answerer.

There are a few female martial artist I have met who are experienced in fighting and teaching martial arts. I have found there advice credible and helpful over the years. I have to say female martial artist with wide  experience are rarer than male counterparts. To be a judge of good advice a person must have some experience to discern good from bad and the gray in between.

  3. No. I think you have to take the answers a look at them for what they are, someone opinion. Not a right or wrong type of thing. Many people give bad responses. But it is not according to gender. Mostly it is because of lack of  knowledge. Then there are a few that have great answers in my opinion. Again gender has nothing to do with it.

Plus we really don't know the gender of someone else on here. Yes, we can look at their aviator, but that can be misleading.

  4. The only thing I take into account when a female answers is whether or not she is approaching the question from an emotional standpoint.

Not being chauvinistic, but women are emotional creatures.

This is what creates balance in the relationship between man and woman. It is a beautiful attribute and the reason that man cannot survive without the woman.

  5. Also a "no" for me. I would tend to think there are less female fans of this sport, but when it comes to an answer on here, I simply take it for what it is. We're all people with opinions, gender has nothing to do with it.

  6. No, there is no "men are better" or "women are better". To me there is only the individual is better.  I know a woman who has been doing MA for many many years, and she could destroy most of the equally experienced men that would attempt to accost her. Her training style is tough as nails as well. That's the physical side.

Emotionally, I might be more skeptical just because women are more reactive(sensitive) when it comes to emotions then men are. So if she is able to explain her point while remaining objective then her POV is quite valid.

Dealing with facts IE: History, Physiology, Laws or Physics, etc. The woman has equal grounds as that's an education point.

So I guess the answer would be I see women as having an opportunity to be equal and even greater if given the chance. This in regards to everything in life, even MA, and the only answer I consider more credible is one from an unbiased, experienced individual.

  7. Yes I consider males answers more creditable, and yes it is because I have sexist views to women fighting.

In order for a woman to be a good fighter she needs the mentality of a manly type man. She needs to throw away everything she was taught as a child about being a girl and adopt the mentality of masculinity, domineering, overpowering. In order to be a good fighter, you need these traits to battle the battle inside yourself, before you can fight your opponent. Skill and strength play a part but will out matches the other two traits any day.

  8. not if the girl giving the answer actually knows what shes talking about, but you always get the dumb chicks on here that say they like a fighter because he's cut or they hate a fighter because he has ugly chest hair, so i guess its a yes and a no because some girls have no idea what theyre talking about and its really annoying.

  9. Yes I do.

    I'm a chauvinist and I realize it I'm sorry.

  10. hmm, at first i wanted to say i am objective and unbiased and yada yada...but when i think about it...

i am moderately suprised to see when a female answerer has in depth knowledge of a subject regarding martial arts...but i dont think i still use that as a factor if im choosing the best answer or anything like that...

with that said, usually the female answers have the most humbleness in them...meaning theyre not "this is the way i do it and theres no other way bc i know everything"...

    thats usually a male thing...

  11. It all depends, my best friend's mom is a third degree black belt in Judo. She has helped many kids grow up to becoming blackbelts in the sport.

  12. I like to hear advice, but I don't blindly follow it. I listen or read in this case and do with it what I will. One of the teachers at my school is so technically sound it's scary, so I already have respect for a female martial artist in my personal life. I don't see a reason to take your advice any less to heart then a guys.

Thinking about it more as I type this I'm considering why a guy starts taking a martial art versus why a woman takes it. Is there ego involved starting off with guys wanting to be able to "beat someone up" and the woman is really looking to defend herself rather then strut around? Is she going to pay attention to the details more because she needs to do the technique correctly rather then muscle it? Women may naturally need to be better martial artists then guy due to the size difference..... Food for thought. Maybe I should throw a question out there and see what kind of response I get.
