I'm trying to come up with some ideas for Christmas gifts for my father-in-law. My husband has no ideas and neither does my mother-in-law! He travels a lot for work by car, but he already has GPS, satellite radio and laptop that plays DVDs. His hobby his fixing up old boats- but I know nothing about boating and have no idea what he might need or like for the boat. Last summer they spent their summer vacation time out on the boat for a week or so- but I've never really been boating so I don't know what items would make a trip like that more enjoyable that he may not have. Any ideas?

  1. Give him a Gift Card to Bass Pro Shops.  If there is one near go with him and surprise him with it.

  2. A gift card from Overtons. Boaters world, or some other boating catalog

  3. How about a tide clock. It tells when high and low tide occurs through the day. It is only accurate if you live in an area with semi-diurnal tides, i.e., two highs and two lows a day.

  4. Radio Controlled Laser.....

It comes complete with transmitter and packs up everything you need into a carry bag - which goes in the back of the car ready for wherever you find some water.

  5. a good pair of binoculars, a tide clock, beer coozies, a chargeable spotlight (plugs into cigarette lighter on boat), boat shoes or deck shoes, a nautical chart of his boating area.

  6. A subscription to a boating magazine covering his areas of interest (there are a ton of specific interests addressed), hopefully one he doesn't already get.
