Got a hot tub through freecycle. It has a ozone generator. Do I also need chlorine and or bromine?

Original equipment has chlorine/bromine dispenser built into the filter canister cap which I believe is an upgrade from the original cap. It has taken me nearly two months to get it operational, as it had frozen, and we would like to start enjoying it.

thanx

  1. If the ozone generator is working correctly you won't need chlorine.  Just check the water and keep it balanced.

  2. Ozone needs chlorine/bromine in an outdoor pool but a half charge 0.5 to 1.5ppm.  I believe your spa maker would also recommend the same thing.

    Check www.delozone.com

    You're welcome!!

  3. My hot tub has an ozone generator and we also use bromine in a floating dispenser. I make sure this is full once and week and also add oxidizer once a week. This helps the bromine work better. I might also need to add bromine concentrate if it is getting a lot of use. We also got this hot tub with no instructions on how to maintain. If I were you I'd go to your local Hot tub supply store. They can answer lots of questions and even have people to come out to help you with it. I didn't get mine in control until I had someone come out to teach me about my specific tub. So much has to do with what size and type of tub you have and how much usage it gets.
