Got a new water heater and now my water is dirty??

My landlord got us a new water heater and now there is all these particles floating in the water...is this normal or connected? Will this go away?

it's probably from the pipes and not the water heater, run water till it clears up. Any time that water is turned off and pipes are drained, the sediment is left in pipes, and when water is turned back on, it stirs it up.
