Question:

Got a nose piercing done four days ago...?

the guy who did it never told me how to clean it and such. i used alcohol (like a dumbbutt) the first night... and i'm going to assume that wasn't the proper way to clean it since the sting felt equivalent to getting the piercing itself, then turning the area around my stud red...

so would a saline solution work? i heard saline water helps heal quickly anyway. but i was just wondering... if you have one, how did you care for it?

i am extremely prone to infection, so i'm trying to be really careful about all of this.

OH... and how long until it's fully healed (or until it's completely safe to replace and clean the stud)??

thanks for any input. :)

  1. well my cousin had a nose ring and like yourself she gets infections easily so she went to the doctors where they told her to twice daily bathe the peircing in warm, salty water. after a few weeks the peircing was fine. you could also use ear piercing disinfectant im pretty sure it works just the same because it is a disinfectant.

    hope that helped. =D

  2. You know, I don't have a nose piercing but I do know that sea salt water is the best solution, when I got my belly piercing i had to put on warm sea salt on it. Also try not to touch it too often or have dirty hands, because that can cause an infection.

On the healing process, it can varies from person to person, but the average time is 6 months. But I also suggest you leave it in for 6 months (I know that's a long time but time does fly by pretty fast!)

    I hope that helps! :)

  3. Alcohol only harms a piercing, as you found out. :[

But idealy a sea salt solution is what is recommended for a piercing.

It helps it heal and keeps it clean.

However, dial soap that comes in the liquid bottle also does the trick.

It was what was recommended from my piercer but I went out and bought some sea salt solution too. :p

The healing time will vary. It depends on the person. But after about 2-3 months, you can change it, but dont leave it out for a long time because they heal very quickly. make sure if youre replacing the stud to just take it out for a minute and put it back in as soon as possible. its when youre taking it out and putting it back in really often, thats when the damage is generally done. good luck with your nose piercing.

i saw your photo on a different question.

    it suits you nicely. :]

  4. i pierced my nose almost three months ago. u can clean it with soap in ur bathroom. get a qtip and get it went and get ur nose piercing wet then put soap on it and rub it in & all that then wash it off with the other end or a different qtip. u can replace it a month after, only if ur sure u can get it in though. it takes about 3.8 months to heal.

  5. i've had a nose piercing for about two years. i think what works best to clean it is to mix sea salt with warm water and just pour it over

mine healed about 2-3 weeks after i got it but i think you're supposed to wait at least a month or it might have been two?
