We have been getting a phone call from this telemarketing number trying to sell us cable/satellite by having a recording announcing what they are selling once you answer. I have got several different calls from them with different numbers, and I call the numbers back and with the automated options once I call the number back to be put on the do not call list, but they still call with the same thing on my caller id saying California call, and each time is the same recording but a different number. We have even chose the option to talk with someone, and once we get there, in the middle of telling them politely what the problem is and put me on the do no call list, they hang up on me. I am at a lost, I have no clue what to do, if they are calling obviously from a computer and once you do get on the do not call list for that number that called, there is another number coming from the same place. This is harassment, because they call everyday and it is getting annoying, there has to be something I can do, and there is no company stated on the recording when they call and all it says on the caller id is California call, I need advice as to what to do, thanks to all that answer!

  1. Sign up on the government's do not call list. The URL is just :  www.donotcall.gov   Then if the calls continue and you can talk to some one, instead of asking them to remove you from their call list, tell them you are on the federal do not call list and if they continue you will take other legal action against them. If you can, record one or more of their calls and use the info in the front of your phone book to deal with them. You can also file complaints with the FTC and the FCC re this problem.

  2. We'll if you can call them. Call them back and say this

hello I am calling you back because you have requested that you wanted to have phone s*x.

Please give me your credit card number. So I can bill you $20.00 a minute.

Oh never mind. I'll give you a free trial. Ready to start the phone s*x?

And if they say no." Then ask why not?" You called requesting this.

Then start the phone s*x. Lol

I did this to a lady who kept calling me and asking me if I wanted magazines.

    She never called again.

  3. While you are waiting for do-not-call registry to kick-in, you may want to look into a telephone that has Call Block and Night Modes built-in.

The solution I use is the Panasonic DECT 6.0 cordless phone model KX-TG9333.

This phone can be programmed to Call Block specific phone numbers that you don't want to be bothered by. Block up to 20 separate numbers.

It also has a "Night Mode" that prevents the phone from ringing during late night hours. Just program in the times you don't want to be disturbed while sleeping. This will keep anyone from calling you at night when you are sleeping.

I think it is great that phone manufacturers are building these features into phones. Now we don't have to pay the phone company more money just to block annoying phone

But if you want to skip the answering machine, then go for the KX-TG9313, which is a little cheaper.

And if you still want Call Block and Night Mode, but want to keep the price down to a minimum, then you may want to try the KX-TG9361B model, which is just a singe handset unit and no answering machine:
