I'm only 16 and I got a citation for speeding going 22 MPH over the speed limit, and i have a scheduled court date, what are my other options, and what are the consequences? I was also told i could not attend defensive driving because i was going more than 10 MPH over the speed limit, is this true?

  1. either go to court, call the court to set up payment, or wait for the warrant to be issued....as far as the defensive driving im not sure about that...call the court to ask....

  2. Your options are to ask the judge what sentence they will impose.  It is difficult to determine exactly what consequences the judge will impose since this is a worldwide forum.

  3. Depends on your local ordinances.  In some locals, speed of more then 20 MPH over the speed limit is considered reckless driving which could result in jail time.  Also being a junior operator, the violation could result in suspension of your driving privileges until you are 18.
