Got bands on my bottom teeth today?

I got bands on my bottom teeth today but i havent gotten the archwire yet - is this normal? why didnt i get the full brace on the bottom yet?

they put band around the back teeth as this is where they put a frame to hold the wire

with out the frame the brace wouldn't work

they will put the brace on in around 1 week

i had all this done about 1 1/2 years ago

This is normal, they do it to everyone. It is to make the gap a tiny bit bigger so they can put the metal thing on.

I had it done

they try and separate the teeth because your backteeth will have metal caps placed on

They are there to make sure the caps go on easy or they will have to force them on and it will hurt.

The bands are to simply make about a millimetre cap on both sides of the tooth so the brace will fit
