Question:

Got blood taken at gyno for my annual... Do they get results other than STD's, etc.?

I just had my blood taken at my gynocologist (I get tested every 6 months). I'm pretty sure I'm fine as far as STD's, etc. are concerned. However, lately I've had horrible headaches and been overly tired. I'm afraid I may have mono. Would they be able to identify that or would I have to have my blood drawn again at my regular doctor? Thanks and I'll give best answer.

  1. They will test your blood for any abnomalities such as STD's and high white blood cell count, which is from any sort of infection in the body.  In order to have your blood tested for anything other than that you have to request specifically.  If I were you I would call your gyno and ask to leave a message for his/her nurse.  Leave the question on her/his VM and they should respond with in a day or so.  My personal opinion is that Mono spreads very quickly/easily.  You should contact your primary dr and go in for treatment that way.

  2. The jury is still out on that
