  1. my mom got caught the other day going 48 in a 45...she got the fine about a week later.i think it all varies.

  2. im afraid its 1 £60 fine and 3 points. its unlokly to put your insurance up as most companys ignore one or two small mistakes yakes up to 14 days for the first letter then you must reply saying who was driving then you get the fine with 28 days to pay

  3. my dad got a letter about a week or so after... dont worry... the fine isnt to hefty.. lol.... if your english i think they just put points on your license... dont really know about other countrys

  4. Most speedos read 10% higher than your actual speed so you were probably only doing 32mph and I doubt you would get a ticket for being 2mph over.

Good luck, hopefully your worrying over nothing.

  5. Most insurance companies will disregard the first speeding and not load your premium till you get a second. With you only being 19 it might increase a little but not much.

Did the camera flash or whatever it is they do? it might be likey that its set a little higher than 35 some are some arent

  6. GEEZ, 5 over and only going 35. They must be really strict over where YOU live. That's ridiculous.

I would appear in court and ask the judge to give you a break.

  7. I believe they have to give you notice of intention to prosecute within 10 days.  Ask for pictures and the calibration details of the camera.  They have to produce both of these should you ask for them. Many times the cameras have not been calibrated within the specified time limits making pictures and speed readings void.  If you were only 5 mph over limit you may not get done.

  8. OK, dont feel too bad. It is not hard to be doing 35 instead of 30 in a modern car. On my Peugeot 406 the 30mph is just a line on the speedo and not a figure and it is not apparent at a quick glance just where the 30 is so i am frequently over the 30 without meaning to be.

depending upon where you live, they may not prosecute any way and just send you a warning letter. if they ARE going to prosecute the guide line they have from the Association of Chief Constables is that a 'Notice of intention to prosecute' must be served on you within 14 days of the offence. The police consider the posting date as 'served'!  The 14 days has a reason, you have to identitfy the driver and it is 'reasonable' to consider that most people will be able to remember who was driving their cars within the last 2 weeks. Once you get  beyond that memory starts to fade etc etc

You are 19. Do NOT, repeat NOT, ask for photo's and calibration certificate !!!   At worst you will get 3 points and a 60 pounds fine.  If you ask for photo's and calibration certificate you will no longer be a ordinary guy who had a few moments inattention and drifted over the limit, you will be a smart **** trying to avoid punishment for his crime and the fine is likely to be much higher!  Also, do NOT NOT NOT say you do not know who the driver was! Then you will get an additional charge of failing to produce the drivers details and your fines will end up being around 250 pounds or more all told.

This single instance, if followed by 3 points and fixed fine will probably not worry your insurance people too much, it is easy enough done even by the most experienced of motorists.

  9. As you weren't going ridiculously fast, you might not get a fine but asked to attend a speed awareness course - costs the same as a fine but you avoid the points on your licence

  10. up to 14 days to wait - sorry to hear about it -  get yourself a GPS with speed cameras  and prevent it happening again
