an he knocked off me wing mirror,an drove off Had a witness reported to police (now in their filling cabinet) replace wing mirror myself do i have to tell me insurance company?

If you want to claim then you should inform insurance company.  You should also send a police report/statement.

I can't understand why you want to pay for the replacement yourself when you have a witness and the matter has been reported to the police

no you don't have to tell them you are not claiming find the taxi driver and rip is wing mirror off you will feel better about it but don't tell anyone
