I went to an orientation at UNT about 2 weeks ago. On the first night they did this activity in the coliseum where hundreds of students hold hands and ran around. While that happened, i strained my shoulder.

I think UNT is at fault and they should pay for my medical bills. I think my shoulder is sprained but its been two weeks and it's still not better. I need to get an MRI to see if there is any tears in the ligaments, but that would cost too much.

I think that activity they did with hundreds of people holding hands and running in directions is dangerous, and they should pay for medical bills.

I call them couple days ago if they can look at my shoulder, but they had the audacity to say that they wouldn't even look at it until the classes started in the fall, which would be 2 weeks from now. They also said any tests will not be free.

  1. There's really nothing you can do for a sprained shoulder except to rest it until it feels better - there are no casts, or surgeries, or medicines to help that out. So whatever medical costs you incur are your own responsibility because it's a minor injury that will heal on it's own.

Next time, you should probably exclude yourself from all kinds of physical activities - especially ones where you are around a lot of people. From what you said, it sounds like you missed out on gym class and cannot participate in group activities without hurting yourself...

  2. The activity that was planned was not wise, and the students weren't wise to participate. The only good you will probably get from this is to get them to stop this insane practice before the next orientation. Unfortunately, the facts are that we can get hurt anywhere.

You can get a lawyer to write a letter to them. That's about your only option. Sorry
