Got into a minor car accident. What is the best thing to do on this situation?

A couple of friends of mine asked me to pull into a gas station so they can buy cigarettes. When they got back in the car, I reversed onto someone from behind. I just have some scratches and paint off my car. The other car got a dent.

It was an 18 year old girl that I hit and she was with her boyfriend. The gas station clerk came out and took my information for her, I guess that was her friend.

My friends got down and did the talking for my part, they got the information of the other party except for insurance.

I don't have insurance but the gas station clerk didn't bother asking me anyway.

Should I call the girl and ask her if she's willing to settle it and give her some money that is in a reasonable range? Or should I wait for her to call? Or what if I don't call at all?

First off, the information on my driver license is not current: it's an old address. And lastly, we gave her a wrong phone number.

  1. did they take your registration number down, if so they will end up finding u, also u  might get in trouble for giving false details. otherwise i would do the right thing and call her

  2. Only a idiot drives with out insurance, I hope they take your car away from you then there will be one less idiot on the road.

  3. I think the police will be charging you with one crime, if you'e lucky

for one you drove WITHOUT INSURANCE

for another you caused an accident

and another - you gave FALSE INFORMATION AT THE SCENE OF A CRIME  Knowingly

I think you best lawyer up --------I think you're in a heap of trouble.

    A heap.

    Of trouble.

  4. well i think that u should wait for them to call you.

they will try finding ur new address from another source.

in the mean time u should prepare for a debate in case they do charge u.

if that doesn't work, take ur idea and give her a reasonable price to fix thatdent.

i mean its only a dent,i bet she wouldnt even bother, unless shes arrogant.=]

    hope this helps.=]

  5. no you don't have insurance so your automatically at fault but you would have to pay her anyway that would be through her insurance either way

maybe they can set up payment plan instead of them suing you for it

  6. It Sounds like you are really screwed up by this problem. Hope you could get good luck here.http://car-insurance.bestips.info/car-in...

  7. Call her and offer to pay the damages out of pocket.  Ask her to get 2 estimates and then you'll pay the lowest of the 2.  You were at fault and since you don't have insurance, that'll turn out really bad for you.  You could lose your license and have to file an SR-22 to get it back.  So, try to work it out without going through her insurance company.
