Got married in a foreign country

Question

My wife and I are both US citizens and have been living in California for 10 years, but we are going to Japan this December to get married. Upon return, do we need to do anything to register our marriage in California? Do we need a state marriage license?

You said "my WIFE and I" but then you said "we ARE going to get married", if you're already married in the US, you can't get married again in Japan
