Yes yes yes I already tried to look up the answer and none of then answered my question.

But yeah I got my ear cartilage done a few days ago with a gun (which doesnt bother me!) but I was reading that if you got it done with a needle it heals alittle faster. Why would it take long with the gun? and yeah how long should I expect for it to heal being that i used the gun?

  1. I don't think needle v gun is that big of a diff. My friend got hers with a gun and three months later i got mine done with a needle. We basically are healing at the same rate. And I've had mine for 8 months and it's still red, crusty and painful at times.....so yeah. (I clean it often too)

  2. Because with a needle, the hole is much thinner and not a lot of skin is being tear since the needle is smaller. Whereas, with a gun, it already comes with the earring and most of the time, the earrings they provide has a thicker rod in the back.

A week after you get it pierce, it should heal already. Remember that you need to clean the area with alcohol everyday to prevent infections.

I'm wondering whether you're asking about how quickly the skin would seal up or talking about healing process as in, ready to change into new earrings etc. anyway

I had mines done with a needle when I was 1 yrs old, and since the skin grows as i became older, my holes kind of repositioned themselves lol and it's not even anymore!

  3. its not too bad but it kills when its cold and you cant sleep on it much

  4. idk but i have heard of horror stories where people get their cartilage pierced with a gun and it gets infected and swells to 3 times the original size. guns are illegal in most places for places other than the earlobe for a reason.

  5. The gun tears the flesh.

Needles punch a hole (which is why they're hollow) and they're sharper.

I'd say like... 6-7 months to heal fully maybe. I don't know.

  6. i thought guns were illage to use these days, must just be in australia! 6wks plus

  7. It takes longer with a gun because instead of using a sharp needle and a good amount of pressure, the gun just jams a somewhat blunt object through your ear with way too much force.  It's far more traumatic for your ear than if you were to get it done by a professional using a needle.  You should expect for it to takes 6 months to a year to fully heal.

edit: There's no way EternalDream is a piercer.  No piercer would tell you that any piercing will be healed after only a week nor will they advise you to clean it with alcohol, peroxide, neosporin, etc.
