  1. I have never got a piercing with a gun. Why risk the chance of getting an infection or disease? Guns can't properly be sterelized and cleaned, whereas needles can be thrown away after being used.

  2. I got mine done with a gun and i would advise you not to do it. I took mine out after only 2 days it was the worst pain! It never stopped hurting and it was horrible. I got my nose pierced with the needle and it hurt at first, but it's been ok ever since. I will never get my cartilage pierced again, that's how bad it was lol.

  3. yea with both, my first nose pierced was with a gun it got infected after a few months, the second time i went back i got it done with a needle, my nose if perfectly fine now going on a yr.

  4. The reson guns should never be used for anything other than lobe piercing is because they rely on blunt-force trauma to get the stud through your ear.

Lobes are fleshy and don't swell much (unless there's a hectic infection). Cartilage usually swells alot more, which is why the typical gun-studs aren't suitable for them as initial jewelry, because the studs are too short. Bars and Captive Bead Rings are much better.

To add to this, the blunt-force trauma can actually shatter the cartilage, causing the ear to collapse and end up with horrible side effects, of which a wonky ear is the least problematic.

Then, of course, the guns cannot be cleaned properly either.

Using needles is the best option. A trained piercer will push the needle through, turning it as he goes, to 'cut' a hole through the ear.

Any place that is willing to pierce any area other than lobes with a gun has not been trained correctly in good piercing procedure, or they just don't care.

  5. I have 8 ear piercings that got pierced with a gun. . Of which 2 are cartilage and a nose ring that got pierced with a gun. Each one i've had each one between 6-13years and they never ever gave me problems.

If you look after it properly it should be fine.
