Question:

Got my industrial piercing, I think my bar might be to short?

I got it pierced on Monday. He told me to use Dial bacterial soap and move it back and forth. When I move it it hurts like a b*tch! Now my ear is still swollen and I am starting to think that my barbell is too short, but I don't want to go back to the shop. For some reason I feel that I might be insulting the guy who pierced me if I do. But it still hurts and throbs even when I don't touch it. Please help if you have any advice. Also, he did not tell me to do sea salt soaks, would it be a bad thing if I did?

  1. You can use the soap, but I use sea salt soaks instead. The warmness will help anyway.

Avoid moving it if you can, it won't get stuck or anything, and it'll probably just annoy it even more.

And Ibruprofen for pain and swelling, if you can take it.

How much extra length do you have on the barbell?

You might need to go back... Or go to some other shop?

  2. You should probably use the sea salt soaks before the soap.  The hot water will help the swelling and pain go down, as well as clean out any infection that might be starting.

When you are using the soap, if a little bit of the crusties gets inside the fresh opening, it could be causing the problem you have.  I personally have never used soap- Ive always found that it causes more trouble than its worth.

  3. they are suppose to put in a really long bar in right after piercing it to accomodate the swelling!!! did they not do that?

  4. Maybe you can go to a different but similar shop and ask someone else...If you don't want to insult him...Is he the only person who works there? If another person is around..ask them...

  5. my industrial took ages to heal, about 5 months, and it was sore for the whole time, everytime i touched it, or brushed it off something. it is too small if the balls on each end are pressing into the skin, there should be a few millimeters between the skin and the ball on both ends of the jewelery.

i didn't use sea salt, i just used dial, and i would twist the piercing left and right, and up and down aswell. good luck.
