I've had my drivers lisence for a couple of months now and have sort of gotten used driving around alone . initially i wanted someone to sit with me in the car but once i got the hang of it i wanted to go out on my own . i drove everywhere pretty much alone for the most part . but yesterday i took 4 friends who just got back from college out in the car (all girls) and realised that i was really distracted by their talking . they werent yelling or shouting .....just talking ..i started gettin really nervous as well .

my parents say its normal and that i'll get used to it but i feel really responsible for their safety . we have plans to go out clubbing dayafter 2morrow .i will be driving (i dont drink) and i'm getting nervous thinking about it .

has anyone felt like this ....will i get used to it ? how long did it take you to become completely sure of your driving skills . most of the people i have asked have said that they became absolutey confident gradually over a year

  1. I'd agree with the most people. Over the course of a year I became completely confident of my driving. As for driving with people I think I felt the same way the first time. Unless you're an overly nervous person it goes away pretty fast. Just remember to keep your alert mind on the road. It's almost the same as listening to the radio while you drive? Sound distractions. I think you'll be ok after two or three times with friends in the car :)

  2. jeez ur in college and cant handle friends in the car???  I was 15 and driving friends with no problem.  Just relax and pretend they arent there i guess.  i think this is a problem ur gonna just have to get over.

  3. tomorrow and today got out driving with them. so then ur conferable with them in the car!

  4. You will get used to it if you drive with passengers more often. It takes a long time to be completely confident with your driving skills. Maybe what you should to to relax is tune them out and just keep your eye on the road. If they want to talk to you tell them it's easier for you to drive if you don't talk to them.

  5. If you're not comfortable, then don't do it. I would take 1-2 people, but not 4 if I were you. They will be even more distracting if you're going out at night - plus you'll have drunks on the road, etc... to contend with, not just them.

If you aren't confident yet, don't rush it. The confidence will come and an accident isn't worth it. Be safe, not sorry.

  6. if you have your license, you can drive by yourself, you dont need anyone with you.
