There isn't really anything you can do.  The PS2 only outputs in standard definition.  A 50" tv will need a high-def signal to make it look good.  Standard Definition does not have enough data to fill the screen w/o making it look grainy.

Sorry, but you might have to upgrade to a current generation gaming system.

the ps2 version was created over 6 years ago. For good graphics on ffxi, you have to go 360 or pc.

your best bet is to use a component cable.. but then again its a PS2 the picture quality cant be that good.. regardless on how you connect it..
