  1. When you are about to ovulate, the test line will be darker or as dark as the control line.  There will usually be two lines.  It's not the number of linesthat indicates a surge, but the DARKNESS.  When the test line is darker than the control line, you can expect to ovulate within 12-36 hours, so have s*x right away!

    Good luck to you!

  2. No.  The presence of 2 lines doesn't mean much.  For a positive result, the test line needs to be as dark or darker than the control line.  Sometimes the test line will get increasingly darker, leading up to a positive result.  Other times it won't do that, and you'll just suddenly get a positive one day.  I would continue to test until the day after you get a positive result.  FYI, when I get a positive, the whole test line isn't as dark/darker than the control line....just part of it, and it fades out to the side.  So, watch for that just in case.

Best of luck and lots of baby dust!

  3. NO.  The way an ovulation test works is you will always get one dark line (on the right) called the control line, this tells you the test is complete.  Then if you ARE about to ovulate the test line (line on the left) will be AS DARK or even DARKER than the control.  It is common to have two lines but if that second line is faint it's a negative.  They work different than hpt's because LH is always in your system, you just get a surge of it (what the tests detect when it becomes dark) 12-36 hours prior to ovulation.  Your instructions should explain all this to you.  I've been using opk's for 3 months now.
