Got out of the Vietnam draft for psych reasons-- Will there be a record?

My father got out of the Vietnam draft due to his schizophrenia. Would the military have a record of those who were excused from the draft-- would they have a file? If so, how would I access this file?

  The draft board should have the record if they gave the exemption, If he got it after entering the service it would be the VA or the branch of service he left. You can search on-line for military records through the VA assistance.
