  1. No insurance can now be dealt with by way of a fixed penalty at the roadside in the same way using a mobile phone can. The punishment from one of these tickets is usually a good guide as to how the courts will punish you.

The ticket is a £200 fine and 6 points on your licence. So if you pass your test Monday expect to have your licence revoked when you go to court for receiving 6 points within the first 2 years.

Driving without insurance is what they call an absolute offence. No defence. You either have insurance or you don't. It's your responsibility to make sure you do. One of the other absolute offences (it might even be the only other now I think of it) is allowing sheep to stray onto the highway. No defence. They're your sheep, they're on the highway, it's an offence! I think I've strayed slightly from the point there though!!

  2. 6 points minimum for IN10 (no insurance) plus a fine.

Could mean disqualification (6 points max on new license)

  3. Its no defence. Its your responsibility to make sure that you are insured before you get into a car. You could get banned.

  4. your question makes no sense. it is the car that needs to be insured not you. you cannot get a ticket for no insurance but you can for not having a license but that is america not the uk.

  5. you will get 6 points and under the new rules of 6 points or more on your licence in the first 2 years and your banned.

I'm sorry but saying oh i thought is pathetic you are an adult you must make sure not just think oh it will be OK

  6. The offence of driving without insurance is an absolute offence, which means you either have it or you don't. Unfortunately for you as the driver of a car you have a responsibility for making sure that you are legal to drive that car.

The penalty for no insurance is 6-8 points plus a fine.

Under the New Driers Act 6 points in the first two years results in DVLA revoking your licence.

  7. Will you get off with it? Probably not.

I assume you've elected to go to Court.  If so, the Courts may let you off under the circumstances you've explained but I doubt it.

The usual penalty is a £200 fine and 6 points on your licence so this may jeopardise you getting a licence at all.

Sorry to be the bearer of bad news but as the driver, its your responsibility to make sure you are insured and qualified to drive the vehicle.

If you are ever in doubt as to if you will be insured, call you insurance company and they will tell you if you are covered or not in the circumstances you describe to them.

  8. You may be truthful, but I am afraid to say you are foolish. You must know`if you are insured or not. If you are not sure you find out before you drive. What would have happened if you had accidently injured someone or even killed someone? You would have no third party insurance. You would have been thrown in jail. Count yourself lucky.

  9. you may just get a fine and points but they may throw the book and ban you.

either way this will effect your insurance big time

  10. Hi, oh dear, you will be prosecuted for having no insurance, you may even get points on your licence even before you get your full licence, if they pull you again you could get your vehicle confiscated and unless you produce your insurance they crush your car. Are you going to take your test in your own vehicle? if you are taking it in a privately owned car and not a driving school car they can check to see if you have tax, insurance, mot, they have the power to do this, also you may be asked to provide them at your test, and if you have not got any they will refuse to take you.  The police now only have to put your registration into a black box they have in their car, and it comes up if you have any tax, mot, insurance.

  11. In the UK, driving without insurance almost always leads to being disqualified from driving/holding a licence.
