Question:

Gotta finish 200 pages by the end of tonight!?

Ok, so I have some summer reading to do, I'm reading this book "The Right Stuff" and it's not the most interesting of books.

I've had all summer to read it, but it's not really my fault that I just started reading now, my mom just got the book for me on Friday and so I've been reading it vigorously.

I know pausing time isn't possible, but does anyone have any tips for getting through a book quickly while still comprehending it and with minimal distractions?

And yes, I'm thinking of sparknotes usage... but any other ideas other than sparknotes?

thanks.

  1. Try reading for half an hour or forty five minutes and then having a fifteen minute break or so, or divide how many pages you have to read by how many hours you've got.

It's quite easy to read way into the night this way if you keep up your energy. Dash down notes to summarise paragraphs if you're finding it particularly hard to concentrate.

  2. read every other paragragh. flip through it. or look it up

  3. Don't blame your mom cause you couldn't be bothered to get the book yourself. You don't have a library in your town? Time to get off the computer and start reading.

  4. Ouch, good luck with reading! :C

Go into your room and get somewhere comfortable. Make sure there is plenty of light. If you need it, turn on some music, but keep it so it's background noise. Tell people not to bother you unless it's really important. Don't text or talk to friends while reading. Also, get off the internet silly. It's very distracting!

Try to read as much as possible before using sparknotes.

  5. Other than sparknotes?  I don't know...

You could stay up all night reading! :P

I'm working on a summer project for tomorrow right now too.

    Good luck!

Well, since your working so hard, I don't suppose you have time to read this! haha

  6. maybe just reading it and not asking questions on yahoo?

Reading quickly is something i do by habit. I comprehend pretty fast, as well. Just allow yourself to visualize everything. Become immersed in the book. Dont think "this is boring," while you are reading. Just immerse yourself.

  7. look up on the internet for bbetter, in depth chapter summaries.  sparknotes is ok, but they skip out on A LOT and if ur getting tested on it or something than u might need something better than sparknotes.
