Borussia Dortmund’s sporting director http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Germany-c2904 international Mario Gotze will be wearing the number 10 shirt.
The highly-rated Germany international was a part of Joachim Low’s 23-man squad that travelled to the 2012 European Championships. The playmaker’s only appearance in the tournament came as a second half substitute against http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Greece-c2908.
He did not get enough game time at the European Championships and vented his frustration a few times. Experts believe the lack of appearances were mainly down to an injury ravaged season with his club. The 20-year old spent most
of the second half of the 2011/2012 season on the treatment table after suffering a hip injury.
Gotze recently signed a four-year contract extension with the Black Yellows, which will keep him at the club till 2016. Borussia Dortmund were eager to tie down their playmaker in order to fend off interest from European giants

Michael Zorc the club’s sporting director revealed that the club have awarded the 20-year old the famous number 10 jersey. The director believes Gotze earned the shirt which was vacant after Mohammad Zidan’s departure.
"Mario has earned the 10 [shirt]," he is quoted as saying in an interview.
The player himself expressed his delight at being awarded the infamous number 10. The Germany international playmaker revealed that he used to wear the number on his back in his youth days but wearing it in the Bundesliga is something
special.
After the departure of http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Shinji-Kagawa-c33364 to Manchester United, Gotze will be the main man for Jurgen Klopp’s side and he vowed to payback the faith shown in him by the club.
"In my youth I've played only with it [the number 10 shirt]. And now being able to play with it in the Bundesliga, it's amazing,"
"Clearly this is a special number, but for me it does not carry any load. I see the 10 rather as an additional stimulus," Gotze is quoted as saying in an interview.
The midfielder will have to emulate the likes of Tomas Rosicky and Anrdreas Moller, the playmakers who previously wore the number 10 shirt. The forthcoming Bundesliga campaign will be highly important for Jurgen Klopp’s side who
will defend their league title.
