Gougane looking for an upset in Roflow´s Fifty Shades of Tommy Grey Novices´ Handicap Chase
Gougane has got a great chance of causing an upset in the Roflow´s Fifty Shades of Tommy Grey Novices´ Handicap Chase at Sedgefield in England on Tuesday, August 28, 2012. He will have to outperform five other decent runners in order to win a cash prize
of £1,819 from the class-5 event.
The going has been described as good to firm in the 2 mile 4 furlong race, which is scheduled to start at 17:40 GMT. Most of the runners are inexperienced at this level, thus the competition is expected to be an interesting one.
Looking at the overall statistics of all participants, the bookmakers have rated Ruttan Lake, as the outright favourite to succeed. His performances at the amateur level were extremely good, thus he was expected to be strong in competitive racing. However,
he has not been able to deliver good results with consistency, thus the punters will not have a lot of faith in him.
On the other hand, Gougane has got more experience compared to his main rival and his form in the ongoing season has been really good. The track conditions do not matter a lot to him, as he has the ability to adjust to different conditions. He will enter
today’s event with a starting price of 7 to 1 and the bettors will definitely be interested in risking some money on him.
The nine-year-old gelding has appeared in a total of 25 events, winning three of them whereas finished third on the same number of times. In addition to that, he secured the runner up spot on a couple of times as well.
In his career until now, Gougane has only raced at Sedgefield once. The venue proved to be a lucky one for him, as he was victorious in the race back then. His fans will be expecting a similar result from him this time around too.
During the 2012 season, the Hugh McWilliams’ trainee represented his team in four races, winning a couple of them. Moreover, he did not drop out of the top three even once this year, which is a positive sign. He will definitely be in contention of a victory
under young jockey, Kielan Woods.
