Gov Palin and her prego daughter?

I think its awful that Gov Palin was picked for GOP VP. They say McCain knew her daughter was pregnant, witch makes it even more deplorable. I know alot of families have daughters that get pregnant unmarried and underage, but shouldn't our leaders AND their families be held to a higher standard. What do you think?

It's questions like this that turn the presidential election into a tabloid fest. Maybe we should concentrate more on how she's going to lead than her daughter's sexuality.

Have we learned nothing from the Clinton era? I'm voting Obama and I still think comments like this are a low blow.

Yes! Could it be that she's (palin) doesn't have time for her daughter and this could be why she may have had the time to go and have s*x! I wouldn't want girls to think that if it's okay for her then it's okay for me! I felt the same way about Brittany Spears sister! it sucks!

I support McCain. But I'm not sure about his pick for VP (Palin).

I agree. Politics should be held at a higher standard. A situation with a pregnant teen can hurt McCain's campain. But we can't expect politicians to "better than" regular people. It's not uncommon now for teenage unwed girls to get pregnant. I mean itsn't the statistic something like every 1 of 5 girls will get pregnant. I'm not sure what the number is exactly but it is pretty common. As long as Palin was able to take responsibility and admit that her daughter is like every other teenage girl then I think it should be fine. At least her daughter isn't selling the story out to the media for money like Jamie Lynn Spears.

You must have never heard of the saying that "you can choose your friends, but not your family". I don't think that there's a family in this country that doesn't have a member or two that would never meet your "higher standard".

The same thing goes for friends, i.e. church. Now, if I were going to a church that had beliefs that I didn't believe in, I'd change churches, and I wouldn't wait 20 years to do it.

Oh, sorry, I misunderstood. You must have meant the "higher standard" from the other side. Let's see, that would also include Chappaquiddick, Marilyn Monroe, and someone named Lewinski.

i think it shows that they too are people and arent any better than anyone else in america.  everyone makes mistakes, conservatives, and liberals.  the main thing is people are gonna look at her views on unwanted teen pregnacies.

Are you saying this kind of thing does not happen to people who serve our country? What are you living in the dark ages? Get over it already at least she is not having an abortion.  To me that is a higher standard.

I don't think they should be held to a higher standard, but I do this her daughter's pregnancy directly shows that her policies don't work - THEY DON'T EVEN WORK IN HER OWN FAMILY!!!  How can we elect a ticket when we have undeniable proof that their policies do not work?

First, I think you are asking this in the wrong category.

Second, about holding your "leaders AND their families" to what you call a higher standard. If I were you, I would be much more concerned about your politicians being corrupt and nasty and stupid and selling you and your children's future out.

While I think politicians should lead by example, I think everyone knows it's not appropriate behaviour.

It's not appropriate for politicians, doctors, cleaners, and so on...

personally, i think it was all part of a bigger picture.

people probably would type cast mcain for being a straight edge, no nonsense, all american kind of guy and he knew that her daughter was preo, by choosing her as his running mate and knowing the circumstances, he'll apeal to families going through that situation and palin being a women... he killed to birds with one stone on this one.
