  1. Dog owners will now be held responsible for attacks by their dog. Under HB 1355, a dog owner can be charged with a third degree felony, which is punishable by up to 2 to 10 years in prison and a fine of up to $10,000, if their dog makes an unprovoked attack and seriously injures someone. If the victim dies, the charge could be upgraded to a second degree felony, which is punishable by up to 20 years in prison.

It was signed in June and is effective September, 1, 2007
