Governing body for travel insurers?

Is there a governing body/association specifically for for insurance companies, specifically relating to travel insurance policies?

They all now come under the Financial Services Authority.  If you've got a complaint, first complain in writing to the insurance company.  If you can't reach an agreement, they have to refer you to the financial ombudsman.

Travel insurance is now under the remit of the Financial Services Authority in the UK.  But are you looking for their rules or are you looking to make a complaint about your insurance?  

If it is to make a complaint you must first complain to the insurer and allow them the opportunity to investigate.  If you are not happy with the outcome you will be give the right to refer your complaint to the Financial Ombudsman Service.  After a referral to FOS you would still have the right to take the matter to court if you remainded unsatisfied.

Travel insurance which has NOT been booked in conjunction with a trip is regulated by the Financial Services Authority so the Financial Services Compensation Scheme and Financial Ombudsman Service are available. (You have to go through the company's official complaints procedure first though).

Travel insurance bought in conjunction with a trip e.g. through a travel agent or a train company/ low cost airline website is not necessarily regulated (some travel agents have received FSA authorisation though). However from Jan next year ALL travel insurance will be regulated by the FSA.

the european union are in control of all that.they are the governing power to our european travel and insurance.

but i think you mean like....like....how to go about working abroad....which i dont think is their job particularly....
