Government ID??? Cruise???

Question

I just renewed my ID and it used to take 2 weeks to get here and now the lady this morning said it will be atleast 3 weeks if not longer...

All i have is my EXPIRED driver license and a peice of paper showing me renewing it...

I know i have to have my birth certificate and a ID...

I dont have any other id with a picture on it... not one thats a Gov issued one.. my bank one doesnt have my pic.. i do have one on my gym card though...

Will i still be able to go on the cruise? We leave out of galvestion texas and make 2 stops in mexico and come back.. i dont need a passport...

Don't chance it!

If you used a Travel Agent they'll have access to an express service to get a passport.  otherwise call the cruise line and find out what you need to do.  Don't wait.

Post 911 when I did check in for Mexico and Caribbean flights, we still took the expired license with the paper proving renewal.  In states that do this, your license is considered valid, so the cruiseline should also consider it valid.  I do think you'll be fine, BUT just to be sure, you need to double check with the U.S. State Dept., because they are the ones who make the rules.  It isn't covered on their website, so you'll need to call.   A bank card and gym card are of no value whatsoever.  You can also go on www.cruisecritic.com and ask if others have cruised recently on the same line with the same issue.  It used to be no big deal, because it's still considered valid by that state, but with the fluxuating travel rules, although it's my gut feeling, I hesitate to state that with certainty.

I would call the  Cruise line immediately to see if they can help you.

can you get the documents sooner? can you  call the lady back who said it would take 3 weeks?

You have not said when your cruise is. You can get an expedited pass port within a week for an extra fee. Without a Gov issued ID then you are out of luck.
