Government auto auctions?

I'm looking for a first car because I will have my license soon.. I saw something about an auto auction in the paper, but they didn't provide much information about it. Have you ever been to an auto auction? Would I be able to win a decent car for no more than $1500?

  1. I bought my first car from an auto auction and saved $3,000. You should be able to get a good car from one for $1,500 or less. Some auctions even sell cars for as low as $500.


  2. I found a review of several auto auction and government seized websites. http://www.autoadviceonline.com/Governme... These sites probabaly have a FAQ page to help you. However they cost a small fee to join, but I couldn't find any free resources in my searches. Since the vehicles are always being sold, your signup fee is probably used to employ people to keep the site up to date.

  3. You can find these auctions announced in a local newspaper on a certain day of the month. You would have to call the newspapers in your area to find out which one does it, and on what day. Also you can check FirstGov.gov to find federal auctions. Here's an article that has a lot more details:
