  1. Government grants are given to your school towards tuition after you have filled out a FAFSA and have sent it to your institution of choice.

Government Grants are basically payments made on your behalf towards schooling that doesn't need to be repaid--you get that money for free.

You will never get that money to YOU. It will always go directly to your school.

  2. Government grants are real...you just have to know how and where to get them.  Follow the link to learn more...

  3. By completing your FAFSA (Free Application for Federal Student Aid) you will be able to see what federal and state grants you are eligible for.  These grants do not need to be paid back.  The most prominent federal grant is the Pell Grant.  For the 08-09 year the maximum Pell Grant is $4731 as a full-time student.

How much of this money you get in your pocket depends on the school you go to.  If you will be attending a high-priced university or out-of-state school chances are full amount of the grant will go to tuition.  If you stick to an in-state community college there is a good likely hood that you will receive some cash for yourself.

Any grants that you are awarded will be processed through your student account first.  Any money you owe to the college will be deducted.  If there is a credit left then that will be disbursed to you so you can use it for your other educational expenses (housing, food, etc).

To fill out your FAFSA go to this website:
