  1. First of all about 80% of Americans want us to do so but the Sieria Club about 6% of Americans are blocking this. WTF happened to majority rule. It is about time to remind the flocking government that he bosses are WE THE PEOPLE. I personally wonder what it will take before the people we hire to do a specific job, do that job the way we want.

  2. Because the idiots in Washington don't have a clue about the people want. I read several years ago when gas prices got real high that one of our brilliant leaders said that it would take several years to get the gas from Alaska in the pipe line, so it wouldn't help then. Guess what, if they had done something then, we wouldn't be in this mess now.

  3. We should do like Glen Beck said & "Drill Thru Rudolph's Head!

  4. Polar Bears are not going extinct, yet.  They did just get put on the endangered species list and HAVE been migrating south and mating with Grizzly Bears.  The US Navy reports that the Artic Ocean will be completely unfrozen in the summer of 2012.  I'm sure all kinds of ice reliant creatures will survive the big RAPID thaw quite well.

Now onto why we don't drill in ANWAR?  Why don't we stop wasting money on the combustible engine oil and fuel and use that money to build airpowered cars?  You get 300 miles to one tank of compressed air.  Oh, it's probably because that would be too simple!!  And by the way, the air powered car is being built for $7k.

  5. Environmental concerns. However, we were at this point before and we did drill and exploite the Alaska oil fields with a promise that no environmental damage would occur. The promise wasn't kept with the Valdez spill.

A more important issue is that, every time we explore these new sources with the idea of buying time until alternatives are found, we simply drop the ball and don't pursue alternatives. We're in the same shape today that we were in earlier oil shocks. We simply don't take long term action to develop alternatives unless our backs are against the wall.

We should have alternatives for 3 reasons:

    1. Eliminate reliance on foreign oil

    2. The world is running out of oil and we would need an alternatives in any event.

    3. Environmental consequences of continued reliance on fossil fuel.

I would argue that we should delay exploiting Anwar in any event, because as tight as things are today, they could get much worse. Frankly, if I have an ace up my sleeve I would delay playing it until the best moment possible.

And, Anwar would probably have a fairly minor impact in any event.

  6. Two words: Extreme Environmentalists. Don't you just love extremists? NOT!

  7. Why? Because it won't fix the problem.

The real problem is that we consume resources with reckless abandon, giving no thought to how long they will last or how we'll function when they're gone. There is not enough petroleum for the world to continue using it the way we have for the past few decades. Rushing out and sucking dry all the remaining reserves so we can have cheap oil for a couple more years is fatally short-sighted. In the long run $10 per gallon gasoline may be the best thing that could happen to humanity.

  8. because our government is run by idiots

  9. Go after our own Politicians in Washington DC since they are the ONES WHO REFUSE TO DO SO.

  10. The environment in Alaska, especially during this tenacious time of global warming, is threatened and all of the animals on land or sea are highly stressed because of it. If you want to exterminate whole species of wild life then go ahead and drill. It's more than just polar bears, it is the food you eat also.

  11. Liberals won't let us.

  12. We really should drill for oil. The only reason we don't is someone paid off the "environmentalists" so they can act like they "care".Proper drilling could actually help the environment. Lol, we'd have those Opec  b******s by the balls for a change too^_^

  13. it's one of AL gore jr's no touch spots, whether the working man goes under buying fuel made from foreign oil, sure it will take years to begin production, but if we could have started ten years ago we wouldn't be paying 4 bucks at the pump while AL tools around in his private jet thumbing his nose at us in flyover country when it was brought up by president bush last winter, ted Kennedy d**k durbin and Chris dodd shrieked lit d**k Cheney had started a trap shoot on the senate floor, if we need alternative energy sources why did Kennedy kill wind mill farms in his state

  14. The @$$holes that run our EPA would rather we buy oil overseas and have the Arabs fund terrorism with the money than possibly kill a few caribou, create thousands of American jobs, and significantly lower gas prices. The oil companies probably have something to do with this.
