Gowran Park’s ground definitely in favour of Rodriguez - Gowran Park Handicap Hurdle Preview
Gowran Park Handicap Hurdle is a very open contest, and the slight preference with the ground definitely in his favour is for Rodriguez. C. F. Swan’s trainee is all set to make the best use of Gowran Park’s good surface, and produce a positive result on
Sunday, September 23rd.
Owned by Let's Go Racing Syndicate, the 5-year-old has been performing quite consistently since the start of this season. He made his seasonal debut at Dundalk, where he upset the 9-4 favourite, Jacksonslady, by one and a quarter lengths in the Xerox (Europe)
Limited Maiden at the start of March.
He recorded his second win of the season at Kilbeggan last month. Living up to the high expectations, the 9-4 favourite seized the first place by 13 lengths. It was an interesting competition.
In the hands of Ms N. Carberry, Rodriguez led early on, but lost the momentum after a few initial hurdles. He regained advantage after 4 out, and went clear approaching the final stages. Staying on well guided him to an easy win in the Betpack Maiden Hurdle
(Colts & Geldings).
The son of High Chaparral failed to put up a winning show last time, but it was not a disgraceful defeat. He chased the leaders very well in the beginning. Although he kept running outstandingly, it was almost impossible for him to threaten the principals.
As a result, he could only grab the sixth place in the K.W.D. Handicap Hurdle (Grade C) at the start of this month.
He is due to face 19 horses in today’s 2-mile meeting, which is scheduled to begin at 14:45 GMT. A cash prize of €6,900 is reserved for the champion hound.
It is very hard to pick an alternative. According to the CV, Ross Bay is suited by this trip. However, a few other factors may present one or two problems. Playtime Ben clearly has a chance. He is unproven over this distance though. Norther Bay also has
the credentials to play a role.
There are many horses having one or two things in favour. However, Rodriguez still looks the best. We wish good luck to all.
