I recently read that the Blackberry 8830 come with a functional GPS. VErizon disabled the software to force people to buy their service. Is there a way to re-enable the original GPS?

  1. a great 3rd party software to try is www.tellme.com  i love it  google maps is great  and also windows live search

  2. No, there is not a way to re-enable this when using the device on Verizon's network. At this point in time you have to have a subscription to the VZ Navigator service in order to use the internal GPS. Once you have a subscription to that service, then you can use whatever third-party program you want.

The other option would be to purchase an external Bluetooth GPS device and pair it via Bluetooth.
